History of Atalanta BC
Atalanta BC was founded in 1907 in Bergamo and later merged with Bergamasca in 1920 to form the modern club. The team earned its first major success in 1963 when it won the Coppa Italia, defeating Torino 3–1 in the final. For many years, Atalanta moved between Serie A and Serie B but built a strong reputation for developing young players. The club reached a new level under coach Gian Piero Gasperini after 2016, regularly qualifying for European competitions and reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in 2020. In 2024, Atalanta made history by winning the UEFA Europa League with a 3–0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, securing the club’s first European trophy.
